Pop Art & VooDoo
Just want to take a moment and share what I have been working on.
Memento Mori
Acrylic and mirror paint on wood.

Memento Mori is Latin for ‘remember that you [have to] die’. Yet, this painting is not about death in the traditional sense. To me this means is that we have to be conscious of our own morality so we can decide what a meaningful life may look like.
During the creation of this painting I noticed that I was getting different results as the stencils deteriorated. I felt that was fitting because an individual’s life is not going to be the same as another person’s; there are going to be variations. The skulls are painted with a mirror paint so the viewer can see a hint of their reflection, because no matter who we are, we are all dealing with the same mortality. So, by seeing oneself in a skull, I am hoping to create a dialogue about mortality, equality, and what a meaningful life may look like.
VooDoo Doll
Digital Illustration

You may remember from the previous blog post that I am working on a set of illustrations that explore our anxieties and our vulnerabilities. VooDoo Doll is a continuation of this project.
This illustrations represents our physical and emotional vulnerability, and how people can hurt each other in various ways. It is also a metaphor for how religion and superstition can be harmful to us as well.
If you like the above work, please check out my other paintings and illustrations.
So, what's next?
I intend to keep working on the paintings and illustrations, but I am also in the early stages of a video project that I am excited about. I'll be updating this blog as the project unfolds. I also have a few events lined up, but it it is still a bit too early to go into detail.
Sorry if you are disappointed. If you want, I can go cut my head off.
